The Evolution of Yo-Landi Vi$$er « Read Less
Even though the Internet's obsession with South African rap-rave group Die Antwoord may have died down, my love for Yo-Landi (and her hair) lives on. Ever since they hit the "Interwebs" in 2010 with their music-video-turned-viral-video "Enter the Ninja," I've been completely captivated by their leading lady, Yolandi Visser. Her gold lamé pants, her bleached brows, her rat obsession...everything (can you tell she's my number one lady crush?). Her involvement with various other South African music projects has changed her ever-evolving style over the years, from Spongebob T-shirts to pink jumpsuits. The group calls their style "zef," claiming it reflects their cultural roots. Speculators say it's all an act, but fans love Yolandi, Ninja and DJ Hi-Tek nonetheless.
Part performance art, all talent, always zef. Decide for yourself and take a look at the evolution of Die Antwoord's Yo-Landi Vi$$er...
"Zef is, you're poor but you're fancy. You're poor but you're sexy, you've got style." - Yolandi Visser
